Thinking of buying a new home? Where do you start?

You don't know what you don't know. Interview a couple of Realtors until you find one that you are comfortable with.

What do you want from your new home? Write it out. How many bedrooms, bathrooms and other rooms do you need?  Approximate size? What are your must-have features? What are your would-like-to-have features? 

Even if you have an existing home to sell, talk to a lender (I recommend a local lender) about what you can afford based on your income. A good lender can tell you how much equity you would need from your existing home to make a deal work for you. The goal would be to obtain a pre-approval letter from the lender that you can begin your home search with.
